Mental Health Warning Signs for Tech Professionals

There are clear signs of burnout among tech professionals.

The tech industry's culture of constant innovation, relentless deadlines, and always-on availability creates a unique breeding ground for mental health challenges that affect even the most resilient professionals.

Combined with perfectionism, high stakes competition, and a work environment that blurs the line between ambition and burnout, tech workers face unprecedented pressure to perform at peak levels while managing personal struggles alone.

I should know, as I worked for 7 different start-ups in tech and have since spent 10 years providing coaching and mental health support to early and mid-career professionals.

From that experience, I put together a list of the 5 most common warning signs that your job might be impacting your mental health, relationships, and career.

The acronym is VTECH:

V - Void Filling
T - Tenuous Motivation
E - Easing Out
C - Craving Perfection
H - Hyperactive Mind

As we approach the holidays, and the end of the year push to make your numbers or finish that big project, I will post longer pieces each week about the 5 warning signs.

Until then, take care.
